The ENGO ECB5-230 is a compact wired control box, also called a wiring centre, for water underfloor heating with up to five zones. It brings every thermostat, every actuator and the boiler or pump connection into one tidy place beside the manifold, so each room heats only when its own thermostat asks for it.

Which thermostats it takes: each of the five thermostat inputs has N, L and SL terminals and accepts three kinds of thermostat. A 230 V thermostat with a NO-COM relay, a 230 V thermostat with a switched live (SL) output, or a battery thermostat with volt-free (dry) contacts. The three options are drawn on the wiring guide printed inside the lid.

Actuators: every zone has its own 230 V output for normally closed (NC) thermal actuators, such as the ENGO E30NC-230 and E28NC-230. Each zone can supply up to six actuators of 2 W each.

Boiler or pump: when any thermostat calls for heat, the COM/NO output closes after a 3 minute delay and switches the heat source on. It switches off when no thermostat is calling. The output is volt-free by default, for boiler ON/OFF contacts. Adding a link turns it into a 230 V output for a circulation pump, max 16(1) A.

Check before you buy: this is a 230 V control box for water underfloor heating. It is not for 24 V actuators or thermostats, it does not switch electric heating mats, and thermostats connect by cable. For more than five zones choose the ENGO ECB8-230.
