A worn, seized or leaking valve is replaced in one go, and if only the head fails later the HPA2 can be changed on its own.  In an S plan system a pair of two port valves gives the radiator circuit and the hot water cylinder independent control, so each zone only draws heat when its thermostat calls for it.
